Graduated the Faculty of Medicine, University "Carol Davila", Bucharest and got a PhD in osteoporosis at the same university.
Extensive research experience abroad :Lawson Wilkins International Scholarship in Endocrinology and Bone Biology at the University of Connecticut Health Centre, Farmington, CT, USA; Research fellowship in molecular biology of the Vitamin D, at INSERM-Paris, France; Research fellowship on Bone Biology at the Department of Oral Cell Biology, University of Umea, Sweden; Research fellowship in Parathyroid Hormone physiology and molecular biology at the Endocrine Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.
Investigator in clinical trials, national and international.
Founder and President of the Romanian Society of Osteoporosis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (SROBMS), an IOF full member. Organiser of an annual international Symposium on Controversies in Osteoporosis.
Research achievements and interests: author of the Romanian FRAX model, vitamin D epidemiology in Romania, the concept of musculoskeletal disorders, bone biology (osteoprotegerin, bone cytokines), pathogenesis and medical treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism, pathogenesis of postmenopausal and glucocorticoid osteoporosis, vitamin D supplementation in postmenopausal osteoporosis and primary hyperparathyroidism.
