Pace of Play
Please keep up the pace of play. The Lighthouse Marshall will be on the course to speed up the game and help you with eventual guidance if the case may be.

Buggies
The reserved buggies will carry information about the flight tee time and players in order to find them quickly and avoid misunderstandings. Please note that these are available by booking. Ladies or medical cases will have priority.

Double Par Pick-up Rule
You must pick up your ball and move onto the next hole once you have shot two times the par for that hole or equivalent to X for the hole according to your handicap.

Provisional Ball
If, after playing a shot, you think your ball may be lost outside a water hazard or out of bounds you should play a provisional ball. You must state that it is a provisional ball and play it before you go forward to search for the original ball.

Work Together & Be Careful
Do your best to watch the entire flight and have as many of your playing partners as possible helping search for a lost ball. The more eyes, the better.

Tournament Format

The Ryder Cup is a prestigious golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States. The competition is contested every two years with the venue alternating between courses in the United States and Europe.

The Romanian Golf Association is adapting Ryder Cup format for its members and invitees, in a two-day competition, three rounds of golf championship, alternating various game formats and teams. The players will play three rounds of golf, two on the 13th, morning and afternoon sessions and one on the 14th in the morning all played on the Lighthouse Golf Course.

Team Selection
We considered in dividing the map of Romania in two, North and South. Each player will be selected in one of the teams according to the place he was born. In case teams are unbalanced, a draw will balance them out. Each team will be assigned a captain that will be chosen by online survey by the registered players. The Captain and Assistant Captain (chosen by the Captain) will decide the groupings for all three rounds. The teams and flights will likely change from one round to another.

First Round (morning session August 13)
First round will consist of an alternate scramble in teams of two playing match-play with the opposing team (foursome). All players will play tee shots; the selected ball will be in play. If player A’s tee shot is selected, player B must hit the second shot from where the ball lies, then player A after and so on until the ball is in the hole. The game will end if one team leads with more holes than holes left to play and we advise to then return to the clubhouse for lunch to then continue after with the second session of the day.

Penalty strokes does not change the order of hitting. If both tee shots are landing “out of bounce”, the players will be allowed to choose who hits the next tee shot.

Team Handicap Calculation: sum of 60-percent of the lower-handicapped golfer´s handicap and 40-percent of the higher-handicapped golfer´s handicap. These will be calculated by the RGA championship committee and will be written on the scorecards.

After all games have been played, a provisional leaderboard will be displayed at the club house.

Second Round (afternoon session August 13)
The second round will consist of a scramble match-play competition (best ball), in teams of two each. All players will play their own ball from tee, then they will select the best ball and both play from there, and so on until the ball is holed. The final score on each hole will be marked on the score card. The team with the most Stableford points per each hole will win the hole. The game will end if one team leads with more holes than holes left to play and we advise to then return to the clubhouse for dinner.
Team Handicap Calculation: sum of the two handicaps divided by 4.

After all games have been played, a provisional leaderboard will be displayed at the club house that will mark the end of the first day.

Final Round (morning August 14 - Lighthouse)
The Final Round will consist of individual match-play competitions, in matches chosen by each team’s captain. All players will play their own ball from tee to hole, and the best Stableford score will win the hole. The game will end if one team leads with more holes than holes left to play.

Team Handicap Calculation: each player will be marked in accordance with his/her own slope adjusted handicap.

After all games have been played, a final leaderboard will be released at the prize-giving ceremony to be held at the Bendida Beach (Thracian Cliffs) later in the evening.
